Library updates:

This is going to be short and sweet. This week was incredibly busy and I haven’t had time to read or write basically at all, which I’m . . . well, I’m honestly not dealing well with that.

As the youths say, I do believe I crashed out on Friday.

I had a scheduled meds check-in with the nurse practitioner who prescribes my Lexapro, and usually those calls are just fifteen-minute chats about side effects (mostly none) and a little bit about what’s going on with me and how I’m handling it. We started talking about the “what’s going on” this time around, though, and everything I’ve been feeling just kind of came out. I still kept it within our thirty-minute appointment slot, but I did cry more than I ever have with her. Whoops!

Anyway, I’m planning to rework my schedule a bit going forward and work on being better about setting boundaries, mostly to keep work from bleeding into other areas of my life. (Easier said than done, I know.) But as my NP kindly——and correctly——pointed out, I’m really no use to myself or anyone else if I burn myself out and don’t take time to rest. I want to make sure to take care of my responsibilities and hit necessary deadlines, of course, but I also want to make sure I leave time for true rest and restoration.

That started a bit this weekend, as I (finally) took time to send more queries, and spent a nice pre-birthday overnight with my parents. I spent a lot of last weekend just editing away for work. This weekend, I felt like I truly took a breather, and I feel infinitely better for it. So, more of that is on the agenda from here on out!

That, and more reading time.

Closing thoughts:

It can be hard to recognize when you need to take a break. Best to be on the safe side and just take a break anyway.
