Welcome to the Moratorium Library!
The Library opened on May 1, 2022. It was initially born of my determination to curb my spending, save some space in my one-bedroom apartment, and read the many, many, many books collecting dust on my assorted shelves. The goal was simple: stop buying new books and finally read all the books I already owned. The blog, I was sure, would keep me honest.
Check in every Sunday for book reviews, updates and insights from my life, and a list of the books I inevitably purchased that week. Spoiler alert: I routinely break the very first rule of the Library. What can I say? I love a bookstore.
New? Lost? Start here: Opening Day (and Some Ground Rules)
10 Books Down, ?? to Go
I look at my crowded shelves and ten books feels like a drop in the bucket.
For the Love of Lived-In Notebooks
I moved home after college and spent the four following years living in my childhood bedroom, collecting stuff.
Busy, Busy, Busy
I did not succeed this week, just like I did not succeed last week. But that does not mean I failed.
The Time Will Come
Look how far you’ve come. Think of all you can do when the time is right.
Left Coast
There are few better feelings in the world than getting picked up at the airport.
The Pressures of Airplane Reading
I played Rollercoaster Tycoon for over three hours on a long flight. I also finished reading a book, or whatever.
Collecting Favorite Lines
An ongoing list of lines that resonate with me as I read through the Library
Addendum: Billy Joel at the Garden
I forgot to mention the most exciting part of last week. Yes, this deserved its own post.
Completed Library Books
An ongoing list of the books I read from the Moratorium Library! Updated as titles are finished.
Crafting to Keep from Crying
Spoiler alert: I did not finish a book this week. And, yes, I did already buy a book.
Opening Day (and Some Ground Rules)
So. I own a lot of books. And I buy a lot of books. Perhaps you see where this is going.
